did all 70 super bees come with a pistol grip shifter? our 70 has a ball type shifter. it is a #'s matching 383/4speed car built in Feb of 70

To my knowledge, all came with the pistol grip.

I was told all have pistol grips. Check from the shifter assembly up to see if it is correct, you should have a push in type not the bolted shifter mechanism, I seen a few 70 4 speeds with the pistol grip but a bolt in mechanism and shifter... The good news is they are repopped and look good for a fair price, both parts, and your original parts are worth something too...

PS- ball shifters may use a completely different shifter all together, not sure where I heard that but its popping back up, lol... someone may know better...

Could have been a D13 car, factory 3-speed manual which would not have had a pistol grip, or what Lionized said

I thought only tranny options for 70 bee's were 18 and 21 spline 833 and 727? Was there a 3 speed manual ever produced? That would be a pretty rare car...

I spoke to a friend of mine, he said ALL manual Super Bees in 70 came with hurst push in pistol grip, roll under the car and check to see if there is bolts through the shifter or not... He said he has seen ball shifters installed but there was more to the install than just swapping shifters, if you want it right, call Brewers he will set you up with everything you need, maybe even take your parts as cores...

Yes a friend of mine has a B5 1970 super bee option delete car, It has no stripe, just the bee circle on the quarter and the standard trans was a 3 speed on the floor behind a 383 4 barrel. It has a ball shifter from the factory.

According to the books there were 284 70 Super Bee 2-door hardtops with a 383 4bbl made with a 3-speed man trans and 385 post cars made with a 383 4bbl and 3-speed man trans as well and all the three speed cars produced in 70 would have had a round handle shifter not a pistol grip. A common misconception is that all manual performance cars where 4-speeds and that is not true, there where 3-speeds produced as well
