I have a 05 SRT8 300 6.1 that dropped a valve. It is apart but have all new pistons bearings and valves/springs. I am tossing around the idea of selling it or trading for a 451? I would like to stuff it in my Road Runner but It would be easier and cheaper to go big block right? thanks

Put the 6.1 in it, you wont be disappointed.

Tough call, I've got at least $4,500 in my 451 doing all but the machine work myself if that helps. I really like both motors but the old BB has it's own sound, so it just depends on what your after. Either way is a good choice.

My opinion is that a 451 stroker is the coolest bb out there. Four Fifty-One even SOUNDS tuff. Gotta have a big block trans fer that dude. The SRT 6.1 is an impressive mill too, and the "whiz-bang" factor of having a thoroughly modern engine in an old car is cool, BUT...to fully take advantage of the modern engine's technology, there's a ton of engine management hardware, software, and wiring as well as finding a suitable trans to go with it. The mechanical bits are pretty straightforward, its getting the different components, ie: motor, trans, and thier computers, to function together as a unit. If you're looking for opinions, here's mine: Unless you have, or at least have access to the complete car (meaning the SRT 300) to take parts from...fuggetaboutit. If you can find someone who will trade you a good 400 block and steel 440 crank for your disassembled 6.1, I would do it...but I'm a caveman.

go with your gut feeling...im putting in a 6.1 hemi in mine. but if you ask me, you cant go wrong with either one. badass stroker or badass hemi....coin flip. lol good luck!!!
