I am trying to adapt the flush mount 1971 side marker lights to my 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus project car. I have collected 13 housings which are rather curved that have locating dowels on one end (part numbers 82897 16284 then second line: 3479063 CC then third line: SAE API 71 R23. I also have 1 housing with a locating dowel near center, which I assume must have come from a four door model, but not sure because there is undercoating covering up the part number (this housing seemed to be not so curved as other ones). I have 4 OK red lenses and 2 broken yellow lenses, 14 metal mounting frames, 20 factory style mounting nuts. Now I see since all the curved housings have the locating dowels in the same place, then the bulb socket housing might be facing either up or down, depending on where the locating dowel is in the fender or quarter panel. Can anyone check and see how their 1971 side marker lights are placed on each corner, is the dowel toward the front or back, is the bulb socket opening facing up in the air or down toward the ground? Are they oriented differently from left to right? I know this seems tedious but I need to give the body shop the correct information since we don't have a '71 model to reference. Thank you all.
