It's like I ingrained into my young USAF students in aircrew training - "Oh" is an exclamation. "Zero" is a number. "Oscar" is part of the phonetic alphabet. Never cross or confuse the three.

Had a little construction project at work, the crew rented a lift.
It broke with a guy in it, stranded 20' in the air.
