Hello,

I have been thinking about converting my end carburetor metering plates to metering blocks from Promax (for example). I am concerned about deleting the metering body plate (thin plate) between the main body and the metering plate/block. I was told that both this plate and the gasket that goes with it must be deleted in order to use the aftermarket metering block. This is necessary to avoid interference issues with the float.

My concern is, if Holley saw fit to use this thin plate and gasket, will there be any issues deleting them?

Thanks.

I’m running pro max plates in my outer carbs with the thin factory plate & gasket

You're putting a metering block in place of the metering plate on the end carbs ?

The thin plate and it's gasket need to be retained.
The reason Holley fitted it was to add support for the main bowl gasket where the body has the relief cast in to it for the power valve.
Clearance for the float is another issue. I don't know for sure but you may need notched floats.

One call to pro max will clear this up quickly.

I did call Promax and they told me there would be clearance issues with the floats if I retained the Holley plate/gasket.

What concerns me is, why did Holley see fit to include these two parts if they are not needed? No answer from Promax on this...
