Hey guys/gals.
Was just wondering if anybody used one of those small painting domed shelters to keep the overspray down? I see some of them can accept a fan for exhaust. Up here in Canada our HF=Princess Auto has them on sale for 20 bucks for the small ones. I geared up temporary paint shelters before. PITA Just wondering if it might be worth it or stick to the giant cardboard boxes??

I've never used a store-bought before. Just plastic drop cloth taped to rafters and a shop vac nozzle inside to pull down paint mist.

They had the larger one's on sale a few weeks back. These things are probably fine for painting with spray bombs but if you're shooting with 35 PSI out of a gun the "tent" probably isn't going to be much good.

So how's that car coming along ???

I've done this more than a 100 times... squirrel cage blower and a length of ABS...(of course before I had cars in the shop!). A few sheets of hung plastic and it would be a mint booth! LOL

I can't take credit for this as someone else on this site gave me the idea: 2x2's screwed together covered in visqueen. Make 4 walls and ceiling of whatever size you want .... and instant blasting / paint booth. Make them in sections so you can unscrew them and lean them up against a wall for later use. I have box fan openings for exhaust and furnace filter opening for incoming air. Cheap and effective!

That's right guys! Love to see what your using! Ideas?? No mostly spray bombs. Maybe a small touch up gun. Those two part spray bombs are sweet for small amounts of decent hard paint!
Shop vac eh?? Great Idea for a small area. Like this small paint tent. Squirrel cage blower?? I'm going to have to google that one Wayne. Yes Guys just for small parts, batches of nuts and bolts, brackets . Things like that. No body panels.
Trying to keep the over spray down. Even though I have the Charger under cover, you guys know. That stuff creeps everywhere. The wife just hates it when I paint in the garage. She can smell it. Gives her a headache. When I do spray in there I usually do it right when she leaves for work and by the time she gets home(12 hour shift) it's mostly cleared out.
Hey Stan! Love the new handle. Kind of works for me. lol
Yes It's a very slow process. It's a mental thing. Just getting ready to hit it. When I'm in the mood. Better be soon. I ain't getting any younger. lol Life keeps happening. Grandson, great grand daughter, home improvements, illnesses. Stuff like that. And what comes with illness? You look at life differently. Spending time with family seems to have taking #1 priority.
Or maybe I'm just getting lazy in my older years. lol

Anyway like I said just wondering what everybody is doing to battle that overspray/fume paint monster.

10-4 Wayne on the squirrel fan! lol
Roger my paint man gave me his old paint room exhaust fan. Gave me right! lol She's a monster! One of those sealed explosion proof fans. She would suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch. Suck in any plastic temp paint booth. Here is a pic of it when I got it and cleaned it up.

Nope... Family comes first my friend!
Yes Wayne. You have helped me look at things differently. Thank you. Always time for the family. Kids were wondering what happened to me. So different now than when I was raising them.
Try to take them out for breakfast at least once a week. Two oldest grand kids missing here. So hard to bring them together at once these days.
Talk about hy jacking my own thread. lol

Whatever exhaust fan you use - even a shopvac, you need makeup air for efficiency - crack a window or a door. That can be a bugger in colder weather but it only has to be open while the fan is running.
