I notice if I put one of the site emojis by itself in parenthesis, when I click 'post' they aren't there, or they're changed and a word is inserted.

:)D) :)))

...Above I put the green 'grinning' smiley in parenthesis..and then the happy face in parenthesis, but see how they appear after posting?

( :D ) seems to work if you put a space between the parenthesis and icon. The emojis are a combination of various brackets and punctuation marks as ascii text, the computer then recognizes them as unicode characters but if you add extra brackets, the code gets confused.

:) a simple colon and right parenthesis ends up like this due to unicoding.
:))) but if you bracket it, the code is confused.
