Florida weather = hot and humid. repeat for 8 months. No thanks, you can have it. The only place worse is the tidewater Virginia region.

Extreme irony, my water supply line sprung a leak, and we've been without water in the house for two days, won't get it back until late next week.

Trick for a well pump: take the tire off a wheelbarrow wheel, put the wheelbarrow upside down near the well head, and run the pipe over it as you pull it up. Reduces friction and the chance of a break/tear as you pull.

Of course, if your well is 800' deep like mine, it's a tough pull no matter what.....

Thanks for the tip, only about 80 feet here. Because you can't flush the john or wash very well without water I called the local guy who came within hours. New pump installed & we are flushing the lines out. No need to shower anymore, just stand outside with a bar of soap! Of course,I used the same soap bar to wash my mouth out after all the cussing & swearing I did! The original pump worked for almost 38 years. I'm sure it was American made. I'll bet the new one won't go half that long. With no water we had to "Force"ourselves to drink a little more Beer, Lol!
