Coming down a ramp the car bottomed out and tore the pipe from the muffler.

Looks like it can be re-attached. But if it is going in the shop I am replacing both mufflers and having the pipe aligned correctly.

Part of the reason she bottomed out was because the entire system was not angled and installed properly.

What I was looking for was recommendations on a Proper set of Mufflers. If money was no problem and you wanted something nice what would be the go to?

1973 Plymouth Roadrunner.
1968 - 383 Engine, with header pipes

Thank you for the help. I don't know much about these cars, except that I love them!

Are you sure it wasnt one of Boston's famous POT HOLES..?
LOL

Gene, just remember the recent post about the DRONE with FlowMasters...
Check it out.

Id say, go with "Walker" mufflers or something...
Unless someone on the Forum can assure you the FlowMasters THEY have will not produce the DRONE (unwanted Harmonics an=bove 45 mph)

Here is a post: http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopar...agnaflow-which-is-better&highlight=flowmaster

Thank you for the link. Haven't seen the "Drone" thread before...

And as for the Potholes! It is pretty ridiculous around here, I am not even safe on the Highway!
Kinda sucks when you have no smooth road to STOMP on the gas. haha

Thanks man.

Screw the drone. That's what stereo volume knobs are for. Nothing sounds better at start-up and low speeds, which is when you really want your mufflers to make an impression, than Flowmasters.

Drone is only half caused by the mufflers. it's simply the mufflers finding a harmonic inside the car that is perfectly resonant for the airspace. (like tuning a subwoofer box).

If your car drones, there is no fix, please mail the offending car to me. I will happily accept all cars that drone. :icon_madu:

I am am literally sitting inside the shop now.

i asked them about resonators and trying to kill some of the sound with the like.
The guy looked at me and said I would be better of doing some dynamat in the cabin. And sealing it up that way.

I totally agree with the Volume knob comment! They are putting in Xcel mufflers? They stated they are a generic version of Magnaflow?

its all Greek to me.
The good thing is the shop came highly recommended by multiple people I trust.

we will see how it goes...

Why not put some hangers on that thing to hold the exhaust in place. Should be one on exit end of mufflers top of wheel tunnel and end of tail pipe.

There's a simple test to know of you got it right. Take your car to a location where there are lots of people milling around. Start the car. If every male head in the area turns and looks at your car, you did it right. If few notice the sound, you didn't.

Could go for the subtle option. Dynomax. Subtle at idle but howl like a banshee when opened up. Sound fantastic on my 340 at 4,000+rpm, perform well, too!

Classic case of a spun muffler bearing!:head_smack: j/k
