In the garage. Under the hood. Again.
Well,I'll be spending the weekend NOT working on cars(mine or anyone else's),but admiring the handiwork of others. I took 70-some pics, but the Mopars were few and rare. Typical of Mopar owners, the cars were high quality. The show also runs tomorrow,so I'll add more pics if more show up. Where do we start?... How about something older than most of us;well, except maybe _____(fill in the blank-I don't dare):

1949(I think...) Coronet. This car was simply STUNNING,in condition, paint, interior, engine compartment, everything. Best of Show at numerous events, and multi-time class winner at many events. What you don't see is the crowd that surrounded the car after this pic,and prevented more.

Next,a fine GTX:

Yeah,it has a Hemi;quite the Hemi,I might add. Serious power here:

Haven't seen a Rat Roaster intake in a while.

Another Satellite;rather original car,with a 440:

Very nice '63 Dodge;found out the guy live about 5 miles away from me. Cool, another Mopar hooligan in da hood! Built 440(maybe more...);was one of the Best 75 cars at this show last year.

There should be more tomorrow, but there should be a certain '64 Sport fury there. Oops, that would be mine, and you see, there was this issue, then that one,and oh wait, what'$ thi$? Yeah, you guys understand-I hope! Don't send me sympathy, send money!

A couple of way-cool non Mopars, just cuz you guys would appreciate them:

Gorgeous '61 Pontiac Catalina. I DO like this car. Beautiful work, and he's into vintage snowmobiles as well.

Next,a purported '62 Ford Lightweight:

...with...a CAMMER! I heard this roll in,and even a Mopar can't deny that these are fantastic engines, with a sound all their own:

More tomorrow...

Some great pics there. I love the cammer in the Galaxie - and the Galaxie too! I heard a couple run and like you said they are just plain nasty. You'll never hear more valve train noise in your life!!

Well,I'm heading off to shoot da bull:yes:,tell lies and almost-truths:confused: and hopefully avoid the predicted lightning. I'll add to this thread later today,so don't touch that dial! I said: don't touch that dial! Where do you think you're going? MoParts? What?:tongueflap:

What happened with the cruise? Did they change the route?

Better take the umbrella AL,another inch of rain last night heading your way.

What happened with the cruise? Did they change the route?

The cruise(and I may have left yesterday before they lined up) went to Grand Blanc, rather than Flushing. The former route(down Longway/5th Ave./Flushing Rd.) now goes through a rough area(I used to live there-I know),plus there were some parking issues with the Flushing A&W terminus.

I just got home;gimme some time to unload, download, and unwind and I'll get a couple of more pics out there. A couple of different cars showed up,but a lot of folks stayed away cuz of the weather. Even some of my snowmobile compatriots wussed out(boy, are they gonna hear about it;Wannadrag knows some of them,so he can help pile on) and didn't show. Wimps.:tongueflap:

Back in a few...

Alright, here we go. A couple of different cars, but no new B-bodies. Such is life...

This was fine!!!

I'd own it.

There was a clean '74 Cuda;for some strange reason, there's no pic of it(WTF?!). I know I pushed the button and got a pic. Really,I did!

Now,for some non-Mopar,but WA_A_A_AY cool rides. You guys and gals can appreciate these next shots:

This next one is interesting;some weirdo gearheads and troublemakers I know went up to this car while the owner was there and started talking between themselves how they'd turn it into a gasser. Complete with straight axle, blown Hemi;all that. I heard that the owner just glared and stared at these two misfits like they'd questioned his manhood. Wish I had been there...

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it myself.

Next;pure sex on wheels. Really...

I know a few of us aren't race fans and that's cool. I'm an unabashed racing nut,but the old stuff from my misguided youth. Though I grew up around a drag racing culture(was never a big circle-track fan),I also really dug road racing, especially Trans-Am,Can-Am and Formula 1. Back then you had engine/chassis/tire/driver diversity. I've been very fortunate to have met a number of racers from that era;all characters who would appreciate this group of characters.

First up;Bill Thomas' Cheetah. I almost got a ride around the grounds in this beast before the rains came. Effin' bad ***,no bullshit RACECAR. Bill Porterfield owns this one now.

One bad sprint car;a 1952 Kuzma chassis with some history.

I looked down into the cockpit(?),saw that exposed drive system, and thought: "A cup alone wouldn't protect the boys". Those old school pilots had big brass ones to drive one of these.

Now,for the sex on wheels. To me,this is the epitome of a racing car;incredible looks, incredible power, and faster around some circuits than Formula 1 cars of that era and even later on. You know what they are,I don't have to tell you, other than an M8F,and an M20. I had multiple cargasms;it was almost embarrassing...

The M8F:

The M20:

I took this shot, one)because I love it;two)because it was probably the most feared sight in your mirrors if you were lucky enough to be in front of it:
100_2343.jpg

Both cars known to have been driven by Peter Revson;though Denis Hulme drove the one M8F in a couple of races.

RIP,Bruce,Denny, and Peter. I share my birthday with Mr. Hulme(June 18th) and missed meeting him in a Detroit area automobilia shop by FIVE @#$%&*@ minutes years ago. I was pissed!

Good point,Jay. I can't remember when I've seen a stock one either. I remember seeing a stock '41 Willys on the HAMB a while back;another great looking car in stock form.

Nice ****! I remember seeing a Cheetah run at Green Valley when I was a kid. Might be some bad 8mm of it somewhere. Interesting to see the McLaren too
