Speed-o correction made easy

In my 4X4 mag they show a unit by California Performance Transmission that will correct your speedo
You give them your speedo reading at 50 MPH (using GPS) and they gear it to correct
 
Or you can do what I did, GPS operated Electronic Speedo. Love it!!!! hook it up and forget it, no more recalibrating or anything else and always within 1 mph. Downside is obvious, you have to have an Electronic Speedo and they can loose signal but that seams to be almost never so far.

I love mine too! I haven't had as much test time as you though.
 
I have an app on my iphone that is a speedometer. It seems to be pretty accurate. (more so than my OE 65 Belvedere speedo--usually +/- 15-20 mph at 60) :)
 
And sure ain't about to wear one....even if it is electronic!
 
Sound like a great solution (not cranky's) but boy will that drive a future owner NUTS. I can just imagine the cursing after a gear swap as they take it for a test ride with what they think is the right speedo gear.

Where did you mount the antenna/satellite receiver gizmo thing to? I've been looking at them but stuck on mounting locations.

Mine is sitting on the dash up near the windshield right now. I haven't permanently fixed it yet but I plan to come up through the speaker grill with a little notch and use double sided tape to stick it to the dash in the center. The receiver is pretty small, only like 1" x 1"

You can see the receiver on the dash just sitting there right now.

Hmm. Guess I'm just simple? I just used an online calculator...input my gear ratio and tire size, then looked at a speedo gear chart to determine what speedo gear I needed, then installed the correct gear into the transmission and I was done. Actual work took about 10 minutes. Verified the accuracy with a GPS (within 1 mph at all speeds). I think I paid $30 for the gear, online.

Note: On an auto trans you will lose some trans fluid when you remove the original gear. Just have the replacement (with new O-ring) ready to install prior to removal and the loss will be minimal. I think I lost (maybe) a pint, tops.

Nah had my trans had a speed output I'd have gone that route too. I'm using a 2001 Dakota 5 speed that has no speed output or sensor.

Ahh, You are using the Hotrodder's Law: For every modification, there are (at least!) two other modifications that need to be made to get the 1st modification to work!

I exemplify the LEAST in that statement....and by that I mean its way more than two haha.
 
I prefer to change the gear to the correct one but some are getting hard to find and expensive
so when I saw this I posted
If it helps one person my effort was not in vain
