Hi folks, I have a '68 std (satellite) speedometer that is stuck...well kinda. Sometimes it moves a little but it mostly stays at about 40mph. When I replaced the cable, I spun it with a drill to eliminate the trans as a possible cause--it would rise but never return when the drill would stop, and it eventually quit moving much even when spun by the drill..it didn't work right when I got the car 17 years ago either. Ideas? Thanks!

Sure sounds like speedohead is bad, maybe a little lube at the right points(that I’m not aware of)?

Oh wow ok...thanks!

And that included fixing the clock (actually one of the gears was broken so it could not be fixed and he installed a quartz movement for the same price as he was going to charge for the repair about $50 less than it would have been if I wanted the quartz movement put in). In total it was about $350 to get the speedo and clock done.

Jim
