Splash Shield and Adjustable Strut Rod Interference

The driver's side might be barely clearing but it looks like the passenger side won't go on at all without increasing the size of the cut out for the factory strut rod. Has anyone else seen this problem? I don't see a way around cutting the splash shield, but I'm hesitant to do it.
 
Drill out the front rivet and move it away from the strut rod a little bit. I put DMT reproduction splash shields on the GTX last winter, they fit perfectly. The original ones were warped an brittle as hell…

There's a thought. Mine bolt on and I believe the bolt hole areas in the shield are thicker than the surrounding plastic, so drilling a new bolt hole might not be an option, but I will check.
