So I cannot find that super thick "felt" padding to ensure the barrier between wire and foam.
I have 2 ideas..bare with me:

1. "Felt" moving blanket, folder over 4-5x makes approximately the same thickness as original.

2. Just spitballing here....formed split pipe insulation...5/8 or 3/4 ish. I am just afraid it won't conform to the shape.

Thoughts?

I found some at a local craft store, or anyplace your grandmother gets her sewing supplies.

Doesn't it come with a universal foam kit?

Sadly grandmother has been gone for over 30 years! And I live 1900 miles from where I grew up!

I was able to source foam locally. But they looked at me like I had 10 heads when I showed them the small piece I had.
The people in my local place said " we haven't seen felt that thick in 20 years"

Mexican blanket idea isn't bad...unfortunatley now a days they are all rayon!

I've had a couple of universal foam kits for seats that I have recovered, but I only have about 2 1/2 ft left, or I would help you out. The kit is offered by Legendary, I believe, but it's been awhile.

I recently ordered a set of those kits, eventually got the rear but the front is still on backorder.
