Spring Fling 35 Apr 15&16, 2023 Van Nuys CA -info & roll call

I keep forgetting....
There was a food truck there serving up Mexican food. I strolled up and ordered 3 tacos. The man suggested that I try them with his own handmade corn tortillas instead of the pre-made ones from a bag.
Carne Asada, cilantro and onion, a bit of cheese and sour cream.
HOLY COW those were fantastic. I don't think that I have had a better taco from any restaurant or street food truck.
I hope they are back in the fall. GREAT food!

I’ve been trying to hit that for a while. But seems business travel keeps getting in the way. Enjoyed seeing the pictures from Taichung Taiwan though.

The show was in Southern CA, Not Taiwan.

Thank you for the feedback.

That was the first time they came out. Well noted !!

We got home about an hour ago.
We actually headed east Sunday afternoon. ,,,,, With small detour to scrounge on a A100 van for parts near Venice beach for my co-pilot

Then spent the nite just east of Riverside. Made the drive home today much easier

Car is unloaded and tucked away for a bit
We Had a great time and will definitely do it again next year. Just will skip a portion of the cruise in the mountains ( my car is 4 wheel drum brakes and was white knuckle ride at times for me ) Otherwise I loved it. Even got some great pictures of the car along the coast

I dont go to these shows expecting to win anything. But to come home with 1st place in class...I'll be honest made me smile.

I even picked up some spare parts that I didnt know I needed. ( Its that whole need versus want thing maybe )
But for A tail light bezel and chrome horn ring that could pass for NOS. at $30 ea.... I couldn't put them back down.

PS,,,,,many Thanks to all that stopped by the car to chat.

These are just a few of the pictures I took.

It was fun to meet a some members in person. Beautiful cars, awesome swap meet and great people! Thanks to all who stopped to offer assistance to me on the side of the 405 highway when my shifter handle went airborne and decided it wanted to try and kiss the inside of my windshield on a hard downshift..Special thanks to the guys back at the hotel who helped me muscle it back into place so I could still drive the car to the show and 500 more miles back home. Looks like I may convert to a bolt through style as I never want that to happen again. 16F5333D-DA36-4D83-834D-5DF1A065BE39.jpeg0356CE2F-EE02-4D29-A427-B887BEC2934E.jpeg05E0C3A4-E5B5-48D1-A939-2537C99F8929.jpeg361A9FA7-0606-4790-AA88-EB6F21909325.jpeg6D488DDE-38B1-4F03-AB51-6F2880094CD4.jpeg9576D901-BFCD-4186-91A1-D33A3C6653D5.jpeg

Well clearly your using it as God & Ma Mopar intended...

The lock springs are good when new but after the stick has been removed & reinstalled, especially if a plater smooths the edges of the lock recess they tend to not hold quite so securely..

Thanks for all the helpful tips and advice. This is what my shifter handle looks like currently. I took it back out at Woodley Park and compared it to all those I saw at the swap meet. It looked similar to almost all that were for sale. I was concerned the lock recess was worn or too smooth. I’m thinking I could probably reuse the shifter but only if I install new rubber inserts/metal retainer clips. The metal tab/lock piece inside the base was sheared or worn to the point it was almost not visible and it obviously wasn’t functioning as a retainer. The later bolt through style seems more secure since I tend to gorilla shift at times. But it would be easier to fix this as is without the hassle and expense of converting to bolts. All part of using the car and driving it as intended!3C5DBA96-EDD1-4E14-8284-A9424F28766A.jpegE9FC263E-245D-421B-A6B1-44CA465EDA26.jpeg9358A9C9-B3D4-4088-AC11-753263A05627.jpeg

Glad you made it home without incident
Good talking to ya.

I would drill and bolt it in and not look back
