Started on 71 Charger R/T roller today.

Thanks, over the weekend, I have to pull out one of my R/T hoods and make a tape template for the emblem holes so I can put them on the car. I am going to install the Ramcharger air door too. I took it out of the box,it looks like a nice piece!

I got the Ramcharger cold air door installed on the hood, and templated the location of the call out emblem on the hood from a 71 Charger R / T louvered hood. I am not sure that the emblems are in the same location on the Ramcharger hood, so before I go drilling the holes in the hood, I posted a thread asking someone with a ramchager hood from the factory to measure the emblem location, soo I can insure that I put the emblems in the correct location.

Looking good! I have a standard RT hood with emblems if that helps...

Scott, I have two of the louvered hoods, and that is where I templated the location of the holes for the emblems, but they are not centered on the scoop opening when I transferred the template to the Ramcharger hood. I have found a few pictures on line of Ramcharger hood cars, and it does appear that the emblems are in the same location as they are on the louvered hood. I just wanted to confirm that is the case before I break out the drill. Thanks for your help.

I got outside today and put the correct 71 skid plate k frame in the car. I have to find where I put the tortion bars and the disc brakes, spindles, and lower control arms. I know that I still have them, I just need to remember where I put them. It was a bit difficult to get the K frame in due to the location of the car, but I got it done! The driver side floor pan was cut out by the previous owner, so I have a new pan,it has some surface rust, but it's a new piece.

The rest of the floors are about 95 percent solid, just a few very small spots th a t were welded up by the previous owner.

The trunk floor is in amazing shape for a 49 year old New England car. The trunk floor is 98 percent solid!

The back of the car where the rear bumper bolts up is also very solid, about 93 percent. Most New England cars are completely blown out with rust in this area, this one is not.

The trunk lid came from my citron car. It is solid on the back edge, where most of them are all rotted out. But some hacked out the trunk lock, and the underside structure has some rot on the passengers side. My plan was to cut this section from a junk lid,and graft it into this trunk lid.

I have been trying to get back to work on the car, and have searched everywhere for the front spindles, brakes and upper control arms, with no luck finding them. I am trying to remember if the parts car I had might have had drum brakes and that would explain why I couldn't find them. So I was going to pull the setup off a 70 Charger R/T that I planned on doing a brake upgrade on, and those are drum brakes as well. I would really like to put disc brakes on the car, so I may have to buy a setup for the car. With the Covid 19 thing going on, I might not get to Carlisle this year, and the brakes were on my list of things to get there!

I decided to take the day off from work, and use a vacation day, so I went up in the loft to see if I could find the parts that I needed to get the front suspension assembled and make the car a roller. I was able to locate a pair of 71 disc brake spindles a pair of 71 heavy duty tortion bars,a right upper control arm, the two end caps for the rear quarters and the correct power brake booster. I looked all over the loft for a left upper control arm, but there were none to be found! It's one of those parts that I thought that I would have about 20 of each side, but there were none! I have about six of each for 73/74 b body cars though! I had to dig out a pair of Challenger doors for another project, and it was fun lugging them down the stairs! I forgot how heavy those things are, when they are complete with glass and all in them. I finished just as it started getting really hot up in the loft!

I got the passenger side upper control arm, spindle and ball joint installed, and the tie rod hooked up. I am one step closer to making the car a roller! I called a few friends to see if they had a drivers side upper control arm. I think that I am going to have to move the car out from where it is sitting to install the tortion bars.
