UPDATE!!

:3gears::3gears: Hey all started to work over my drivers side fender last night and only found 1 little surprise so far but as I got to the very lower rear corner of the fender I was getting into body filler now I know that these fenders still have original paint on them so my question is did Chrysler mud this area on the fenders at the factory ?? I'm thinking so but I not 100% on it seeing as this is the first fender I have taken all the way to bare metal ! The filler is a reddish color if that is what was used in 68' ? Thanks in advance !

If it needed some attention on the line, they weren't beyond using some filler. First time I pulled a vinyl top off of a 70 Challenger, I was surprised to find filler in the body seam. It was white tho....

Thanks for the feed back cranky ! To me this looks like something that was done on the line see how the spots where I found filler was on the bottom side where their is no rust but looks like a bad die or something miss shaped it ! I have asked a few of my buddy's and they are up in the air about it but like I said I'm taking off OE paint so I'm convinced it had to be factory ??:headbang:

Well if it's under the 1st paint job it must be factory - nothing is impossible.

Cranky, that was not typical body filler if it was original. Vinyl top cars got a plastic like filler spread into the roof seam, but it was not filler like is/was used for dent repairs. It was cheaper and easier to use than the lead that went into the painted roof cars. I've seen it both ways on v/top cars beginning in '68.
To the original poster, look closely at the color rings. That fender has been repainted once. Your filler is above the original paint. To answer you, no, the factory would not have used body filler there. Someone did after the car left the factory.

:violent-smiley-100: Well this is the nice surprise I uncovered ! It still amazes me at the kinda work people call good ! But on the positive side I get to try out the new plasma cutter tomorrow woohoo still can't decide if I wana cut a donation out of the take off or try and fab my patch to match the challenge sounds like it would be a great learning experience so I'm leaning that way I'll sleep on it tonight and decide in the morning lol other then that spot and the dent on the front not to bad of shape really straight piece will post my patch work lol !! :headbang::headbang:
