Car ran great when I put it up last fall. Over the winter I send off my stock electronic distributor to a buddy for a recurve. I unfastened the cap and kept the wires on it so I wouldn't screw up the plug order when I got it back. Never got it back. I borrowed a distributor from my brother that worked in my car before and has been on the shelf ever since. I got a parts store rotor, put it on my bro's distributor, bumped the starter until timing was at 0, slipped it in so the rotor faced #1, put on the cap, cranked it. I got a few flashes on the timing light showing the timing was right. Then, the timing light stopped flashing. A few times I would let it sit a while with the battery on a charger then crank it, one flash and that's it. Every other vehicle I got is coil on plug so couldn't check the light, so got spare plug and put it on #1 wire and placed it on the motor. I got one spark twice, then no spark at all.:angryfire:
440 six pack, Mopar orange box, stock electronic distributor, Jacobs coil, Firecore wires. Just cleaned and gapped the plugs.
I'm thinking - step 1, get a matched cap and rotor. Maybe the rotor isn't a good match for the cap. If that don't work, step 2 get a rebuilt distributor. Any other suggestions?
