I'm disassembling the steering column in my 73 Charger. So far I've managed to get by without the special tools by fabricating what I needed or adapting something I had laying around.
But now I'm at the point of driving out the pin that holds in the lockplate. The FSM gives a stern warning not to hammer. But I just can't seem to get leverage on it to drive out the pin without a hammer and punch. Fabricating the special tool they have pictured is beyond my skill level.
So, for those who have done this without the special tool, how did you do it?
Thanks.
