anyone put a flaming river steering column in there mopar.

i just bought one and then realised that these retards dont make any mounts or brackets fur us mopar guys, typical cheby lovers..

anyone got any pics of one installed or mounts and where they got them etc.? my main drama is the mount on the firewall where the columnn goes through as the OEM column i think is like 3" correct me if im wrong. the flaming river column is 2"

my car is a 68 charger

thanks guys

I just did this mod on my 70 satty. The firewall penetration is the easy part. just replace the original rubber gasket with one with a 2" hole. On the end where the factory column bolted to the dash bracket, I took a piece of 2" ID tubing about 4 inches long, split it down the length, welded half to the bracket, and used the other half to clamp the column with. I have some pics somewhere if you are interested. Worked great and was cheap to build

pictures would be really helpful, if you could get a photo of the rubber gasket too would be helpful.

thanks

I forgot to get one of the gasket, but here are several of the main support. Just some 2" ID tubing and two clamps welded on. Held it very tight in mock up. Hope this helps. I really like the tilt column from FR. I am 6'5" and it sure helps

oh yeah, be sure and tap a hole in the tubing for a set screw to go into the column for a good ground.

You can see in the second picture I used one of the original column mounting bolts for he set screw/ ground

yeah, If I hadn't had that 2" tubing left over from my Jeep project, who knows what I might have come up with! I love fabbing stuff too. I am building a 37 Plymouth pick up street rod for my wife with a late model hemi. That keeps my creative juices flowing pretty good!

awesome, thanks, mine is now installed i used factory top bracket a little different to that but works and for the bottom i pulled the egg shaped 2 bolt plate off and made one with a smaller hole and stitch welded it to the column it is all nice and tight now works perfect thanks for the help
