I'm replacing a steering wheel on a 68 Roadrunner with standard like-kind aftermarket wheel (see picture). When I try to attach the horn ring with the three small screws, they only go in the holes about one-half of a turn then get tight. I'm afraid to tighten more for fear of stripping the holes out or breaking the screws. The old removed wheel and screws are original. I called B/A & E parts where I got the wheel and they said maybe the threads were drilled metric and to tap the holes with a tap to match my screws. I'm afraid that might ruin the holes. Has anyone had such a problem?
