The following conversation took place at my local Autozone Store in Spanish, but I will roughly translate here to English:
Took an old fan belt (#15450) with me into the store. Johanna looked it up about three different ways and on the last try the belt image appeared on her computer screen (Bingo! or so I thought). She then asked me what year the vehicle was?
I told her it was a 1965 (Barracuda) but that changes had been made since then and looking up the belt by way of year/model would be a dead end. I asked her what was wrong with the belt on her screen?
She put her finger on the screen over the "ribbed" part of the replacement belt image and said it was different than my old belt (which was smooth, not ribbed). I explained the replacement belt was updated and now replaced my old (smooth-style) belt, which could be 50 years old now. She then suggested I pay for the belt and pick it up the following day because it was located in another store across town. I agreed to do so.
Then I told her she was a little too astute for her own good (meant to be taken as a complement that she was observant to minute details of things).
Then she walked with me over to the cash register and took my payment. I was impressed she was the cashier because they are usually the newest and "greenest" rookies in the stores. Well, let's just say I am looking forward to seeing Johanna again real soon.
