Hello , I am Jim65 , and I have a 65 Plymouth Belvedere 1 . I would like to put a straight axle under this car...It has been dead for number of years , and I am going to bring it back to life. It has set outside all its life.Needs a lot of work , but I have had it for about 40 years .Has any one here put a straight axle on a 65 Belvedere? Thanks... I need to know , can I use the frame sticking out or cut them off , and weld on straight square tubing ?

I've never done it myself! If you use an axle from Speedway it should be fairly straight forward! I've seen several mopars done with them!

Google A F/X Mopars. Should be something there. I believe Dick Landy did a straight axle Dart in 66 or 67.

Most of the gasser guys cut the stock rails off and build new.

Ditto on the Speedway setup......I put the speedway kit on my 65 Coronet....worked great...goes down the road excellent.

What width did you use on your Coronet? And I'm leaning towards the Chevy Spindles but what did you look at when choosing spindles?

I used the 48" speedway straight axle, and the Chevy spindles, I like the Chevy spindles better than the early Ford, I think they are a little stronger.
