I have a 69 rr what to build new engine. I would like to keep cost around 5k but would like to 500 to 550hp. What is my best bet. I already have a set of small chamber heads that have been worked over would like to run them because the money was all ready spent. I don't want to go to 440 source don't trust them. Any ideas. Thanks steve

Depends on what you have to start with - if you have a bare block then go with a stroker - if you have a complete short block I would just refurbish what is there - decent cam, heads, intake, carb, headers will put a regular 440 over 500hp

I have two long blocks on 30 over and the other stock. The 30 over has 906 heads big valves intake and 750 carb. Its fresh butt doesn't have the low end I feel it should have. I don't trust the mach work for one. The pistons or forged the crank 10 10 the cam is a crane 280h grind. Just fell like I need to tear down and start over. Thanks steve

What do you guys know about the hughes engines whiplash cam. Thanks steve

I would go stroker if you can. I am using the 440Source 4.15 crank and boy does this thing have gobs of torque. If I raced anyone from a 40 mph roll I would not have to downshift with the torque this has. I love that torque feeling. If you can afford it the stroker is the way to go. Ron

Iam going to take the block that has not been bored and stroke it to a 512CI. have a little more work done on the 906 heads and call it good. Hoping to get a good strong 500 to 550 HP. We will keep you all in up to date. Thanks steve
