under normal circumstances, do strut rods need to be replaced when bigger torsion bars are replaced. Do the strut rods wear out like TBs?

More than likely the bushings would wear before the strut rods. Possibly replace the bushings while you are in there.

They keep the lower control arms from going forward and backwards. You would have to hit something or worse for it to move the lower control arm backwards or forwards.

Could possibly wear at the point it goes through the frame,, if it went through the sleeve . Not common though

So there's not any torsional forces on the rods?
No. They do not twist or rotate. They merely swing in the arc as the LCA moves up and down. They are a non wearing item.
As stated, they are usually only replaced if they are bent from damage or an idiot tow truck operator that hangs a hook on them to drag the car up onto the tow truck. The bushings at each end are wear items.

Strut rods are not considered a wear item, but the bushings are. If you’re changing the torsion bars it would be a good time to change the strut rod bushings…
