Weekend started great. My sons 62 Savoy, buddy Dave's 67 Belvedere, and I all headed down for NDRL race #4 at Muncie Dragway. Cool old school track. Q1 we decide on 100lbs in my sons car tring to run 9.75 index. He puts in 90lbs. Car goes 9.740. Good start. I take a wild guess and go 9.292, ok, Dave runs a 9.98. we are close. Q2 sons car spins, Dave goes 10.012. I have a miscommincation on weight. Thinkg 60lbs it ended up with 85lbs. Goes 9.281. Actually about perfect since at 60lbs it would've run a mid 9.255-9.257. Q3 made shock changes on the 62. it spin again. I go a 9.255 qualifing #3. Q4 the 62 now with timing pullled, shocks loosened up, lower tire pressure rips the tires again. Not sure what the deal is. Last couple of races have been not good. Shocks have been serviced. Tires only have 30 runs. Dave rubs well, I go 9.261. E1 the 62 again spins and is out. I pulla hard wheelie and head right at the tree and have to lift. Fortunaely my opponent is goes red. Daves guy gores red as well. E2 I have a great light, .010 and then misjudge the finish line I thought I maybe didn't catch him at the cone. I didn't but was inches behind. The bad part was that is was the mph cone not the finnish line. Go blasting by him 144 mph to his 104 mph crossing the actual finish line 16 ft ahead on a 9.232. There had been a gusting 0-7 mph headwind changing by the minute. Had to set up for the possible head wind. It was less than what I guessed. Could've easily tightened it up for the wind if I was looking at the right cone. Dumb mistake. Still gained in the points. I'm guessing just less than one round behind first with two races to go. Dave went on all the way to the final. Unfortunaly he red lit.
