I have a new tank on my 68RR. Up until now I have never had enough gas in it to have an issue, but it ate through what I thought was a neoprene cap that I used to cap off the unused return line on fuel pickup/sending unit. Is there a special cap or what is the normal way of plugging this spout? My car does not have the evaporator system that uses that spout.

Are you referring to the fuel tank vent ? If so, you can get a kit from suppliers like Year One.

I believe he's talking about the nipple for the 1/4" fuel return line that runs from the separator on the front of the engine on 440 cars.

You should be able to get the correct cap from your local parts store. If you can't, a quick way to solve the problem is to buy a short piece of 1/4" fuel line and 2 hose clamps. Install a short bolt in one end of the hose and install the hose to the nipple. Obviously, the correct cap would look much neater.

No evap can here just cap it off and see what happens? lol just kidding...
