Can someone inform me of the two different sure grips by Chrysler? What year they changed from one to the other? And which is most desirable to used?

There's a clutch style and a cone style 1969 was the switch year

The clutch style is more desirable because it can be rebuilt. Although some guys have figured out how to do some machining to the cone style to get more life out of them.

The Dana power-loc is the clutch style which can be easily rebuilt and is better and stronger for race applications or hard street use. The Borg Warner is the spring preloaded cone style which is very hard to rebuild (most people don't) but the assembly can be replaced. The Borg Warner its weaker but good for basic street applications and mild built hotrods. If you have a choice go with the power-loc, jmo

I preferred the clutch style because they are easily rebuildable. Mopar may have started the cone type sometime in '68 in some 489 pumpkins.
