Not much of a difference. Lots of variables to consider.Best over all gears for hyw and street cruising. Trying to decide 3.23 gears or 3.55 . I have a 489 housing.
Cops preferred the 3:23 gears for chasing people back in the day.. Other car ran out of gears cops just kept freight training them.
Historically, 3.23 gear ratios were often considered a "sweet spot" for police vehicles—particularly in the muscle car era of the 1960s and 70s—because they balanced quick acceleration (gittyup) with high-speed highway cruising capability. While steeper gears (like 3.55 or 3.73) provide faster off-the-line acceleration, 3.23 gears allowed police cars to maintain high speeds (140mph+) for extended pursuits without over-revving the engine.
Lol... why I run 2:94's in the Bee...Cops preferred the 3:23 gears for chasing people back in the day.. Other car ran out of gears cops just kept freight training them.

Had 26 inch tall tires and 3:91's If I remember the correct gears. Anyhow 55mph the rpms were high at that speed I think its was around 4000 rpms at highway speed. Not good for the gas mileage. Thanks for the info. I don’t do to much high speeds but a lot of town cruising and find when I let out the clutch and in slow traffic I’m moving to fast. Thought maybe the 3.55 gears would ease that down a little. But maybe not.
I would assume 2:94s would be a little dogish taking off but, great on the big end. Pretty sure the 3:23's were a decent all around gear.Lol... why I run 2:94's in the Bee...
I think ya missed the point there. I run 2:94's and they could never catch me on Friday nights when wound out. I also still ran a 99.8 mph quarter on those gears.I dont know find an old 60's cop and ask him.. I would assume 2:94s would be a little dogish taking off.
