Hard to imagine what cops have to think in these cases; damned if you do and don't. That cop might a been thinking he made a grave mistake not taking him down before he grabbed onto the guy by his vehicle. Having a story about a friend of mine's step-grandson who was a dangerous nut case and the ridiculously long ordeal they had trying to get him 'help' he needed it pretty much boiled down to this: Since he hadn't done anything dire 'yet' there was jack **** they could do about him. So this kid had to injure or kill someone before they could take action. His parents were deathly afraid of him after he vowed to cut his mother's 'cunt out with a knife'. His dad kept a pistol at quick reach figuring he'd maybe have to kill his son. Yes, sad deal with how we can't confront mental illness and as was posted earlier here.
