sounds good..i will email u when i get home from work as to the sway barYear of the block does not matter.
They made 2 different consoles for automatic and manual. They look almost identical. I think you can swap the top plates between the 2 and make modifications to the driver side of your auto console and make it work. I think it would be easier to find a good used manual console and then sell your auto console. Here is a picture showing the difference between the 2, manual on top. And I almost forgot, they mount on the hump differently too.The 71 satellite I just bought has a 727 auto (383 engine)..buckets and center console. If I want to swap a 4spd, can I use the center console, or was a diff't one made for 4 spd cars?
As Wookie316 stated doesn't matter what block you have. But I just remembered the most important thing. Your crank has to be drilled for the pilot bushing and input shaft of the trans. Don't know how big a deal it is to get one drilled in todays world, but it used to be a major pain in the *** back in the day. The last time I attempted one of these swaps they didn't make kits. We got all the parts at the junk yard.I just realized that the 383 in my car is from 1967..does that matter w/ the swap?
I know keisler sells the pilot bushing kit for their trans, wonder if i can use it..doubt it..ALSO, will I need a new speedo cable for a manual trans or will my current speedo cable work?
mine is off anyway..so it might work...it was a 323...but previous owner put a 391 in. so the speedo is off about 20mph as it stands.ya speedo cable is the same may want to check the speedo gear and make sure the new trany has the same one..if not put yours in
