Is it hard to do the wiring your self my 440 has points right now but i wana switch to electronic ignition. Thanks to anyone with info

If you want the easiest, cheapest and quite reliable setup, use a Pertronix.

Several companies, Pertronix was the first, make a simple kit to convert your existing points distributor to an electronic one. All the electronics fit on a plate that goes in your distributor. Less than $100 and supposed to take 15 minutes to install. You can find them at Summit Racing and other performance vendors.

I have a Pertronix kit in my 69 Charger its been in it about 20 yrs now and works great.
Just one thing if you go to a hot coil that has a resister with it trash the resister, use only your factory resister with the Pertronix. I made the mistake of keeping the 1.82 resister that came with my super coil and blew my mufflers off.

I used Pertronix. It was very easy to install. And I thought there was a noticeable difference after the conversion. I believe I used the Ignitor 1 kit. Plus Pertronix customer service is very helpful if you run into trouble or have questions. If you don't know which kit to use or which coil you want to run, they can answer any questions you have. I ordered my kit from Jegs.

got a mopar performance dist kit and wired it right up besides crossing the wires on the dist some how lol

2nd that, I have a pertronix on my 440 and it's an easy install. In the classic fords I had, I've installed the pertronix kit and it took about 10 min and the difference is minimal if u have new "old style" points but atleast pertronix feels like new strong points forever, plus you can listen to your radio with engine off without burning your points and you could install a strong coil after installing the pertonix points.

FYI. If there are any things which limit the voltage at the points to 6volts like resistors, bypass them, the pertronix ignition will not operate properly that way.
