I want to change my charger to a floor shift, so I bought the proper column from a 67 parts car. Is this supposed to slide off? I’m assuming it does, but it’s pretty stuck. I noticed the shaft is coming out instead of this ring.

Can I get away with just changing this piece on my column without having to swap out the whole thing? I know where the linkage is, is different, but that will save me a ton of work.

Can I get a kit to replace all this stuff? It’s pretty rough. Looks like a bushing or a bearing and a plastic lining. ‍♂️

67 (like 66) were only made for 1 year, so the aftermarket has pretty much ignored them. On a 67, the bearing retainer at the bottom is different from a floor shift to a column shift, and whether the column was 3 on tree or slush box. There are NOS parts out there for them, but they are made out of unobtanium. Whether the upper column section will swap from one to the other, I don't believe you can otherwise I would have done it when I had the floor shift column, but for manual steering but I could be wrong. That's why I hacked up my column shift one to make it look like a floor shift one at first glance. I know for 68-up they sell kits to convert the upper section to floor shift, but have not seen any for 67 (or 66).

I also cut the lever off the bottom and tack welded it to the tube to keep it from spinning. You're column shaft is pretty rusty on the floor shift one, that is the reason the retaining collar is not coming off if you've loosened the lock screw all the way.
