How would one go about removing the old light sockets from a housing and putting new ones in?

I guess I should post more info. 1973 Charger, I got a pair out of Wisconsin, they are the chrome SE ones but the driver side one is busted and has no wires, just the sockets are there. I am going to use this one as a guinea pig in case I destroy it. The passenger side one is in pretty good shape only issue I see is it missing the bottom tab which I'm hoping my current one has so I can remove it and epoxy it on the new housing. While the housings are out I'm gonna get some argent silver and shoot them the chrome isn't good on the new housing so I am gonna make it a non SE look.

you wanna laugh ? I was to buy one from ebay, because I need ( same as you ) the driver side but no need for wires or lenses, just housing. I asked to vendor if he was able to sell me just the housing and sell the lense appart. Never replied me back . That one just got the sockets no wires. Maybe is the same one ?

the sockeds need to by pried out from front side, and removed from back. That's the only way. The housing will be safe. To reinstall, just need to bend back the front lips once sockets are relocated on new housing. Sure won't look really pretty on front view, but will work. And with lense on, you won't care how the sockets look

being there done that on one socket I had to replace took froma donor broken housing.

Mine were on Craigslist, thank goodness i found them. If anyone is in need of a passenger side housing I will soon be posting the spare on eBay.

What are the little metal parts on the tabs that the screws go into called? These are all rusty and I would like to replace them.

c nuts ? J nuts ?. Mine originally got a plastic plastic plugs going thought bumper catching the tail lights housing tabs
