Tank Pad Question

Getting ready to install new gas tank into my 70 bee and ordered a new pad for the top does this just lay on top or do I have to put down some adhesive?

I just put a little glue on, just to keep it in place while placing the tank and installing the straps.................MO

Glue the pad to the car first.... LOL... the tank straps should hold it.... I would use masking tape around the edges... then pull the tape off after its in...
