Tech tip for the guys who shoot wheel guns...

I have a .357 Ruger GP100. Great gun shoots clean but I would never fire with hand near the cylinder

I now have a bunch of autoloaders but I can’t resist a revolver. Bought one it these .44 Magnums last year.

I always liked long barrel revolvers but for once I think I should have got the 6” as this thing is really barrel heavy compared to a 7-1/2 Redhawk or 8-3/8 model 29.

Still a damned fine gun, with nice tight tolerances, even after 73 years. But yeah, there is a gap between the cylinder and the barrel. Common sense says "keep stuff away from there".

And there is a "linkage" of sorts that connects the trigger to the cylinder, and spins it to the next chamber after you fire. If that setup wears, you can lose alignment. If in doubt...have it checked before firing. Parts CAN be replaced - cylinders, cylinder axles (can't think of the correct name at the moment - shaft?), and the advance linkage. If you love the gun...it can be saved.

Or, yes...grind the firing pin down and keep it as a wall-hanger.
