Tell Me How To Remove Dried On Buffing Compound

I got my car back from the paint shop and they didn't remove all the buffing compound that found its way under the hood and dried on top of the inner fenders.

How do I go about removing this stuff?

I know it sounds crazy, but try some peanut butter. I have a friend in the paint business, that showed me this little trick. It's the vegetable oil in the peanut butter that works

Then just use vegetable oil because the protein in peanut butter can cause stains. Just like blood and eggs.

he told me, to not just use vegetable oil, there must be a reason for it.

I've only used a sponge and some water, just don't be so aggressive with it to cause scratches.

I use spray wax and microfiber towels.....

Irritates me when body shops dont clean up and let the stuff dry

Scumbags did this on my 68 Dart. Would never come off. Had to repaint the area. It was the recessed drain area behind the hood.

Remove buffing compound with buffing compound and a light spritz of water. Follow up with detailer's spray.

They also got the stuff all over my new polished Torque Thrust II wheels. I made them clean and polish them. They did a lousy job at that, too. I took the polish that was left and told them I would finish the job myself.

Use a like product or if possible more of the same to losen up the surface material and only be as aggressive as needed. I might start off using a cotton rag for absorption, then finish with the microfiber towels.

Small claims court? Sometimes litigation is much more stress than it's worth.....

When I got my car back I went over it with just a soft towel and water and that worked just fine.
