Temp sending sensor Question?????

I have had bad sensors out of the box, if the wire to ground pegs the gauge then that works it must be sensor, don't over complicate it.

Ok, I bought a sensor at NAPA that was 1/4 NPT so I didn't need the adapter, but the only one they had that fit was a 13.5 ohms @ 220 F .... It works and runs between the 2 lines on my gauge. It some times creeps up when I come to a stop. How do I know if all the air is out of the system?
Stupid pic's from iPhone always turn after posting!

If you don't have a coolant recovery reservoir, after the car cools down pull the cap and check the level. Add water until it's about 1/2" below the fill neck. Do this 3 or 4 times until all the air is purged. If you do have a coolant recovery, just check the cool level on the reservoir and top off when needed. If you don't already have a set I'd really recommend a good set of mechanical aftermarket gauges to monitor your motor. In the 60s it was one of the first additions to any rodder's car.

I don't have a recovery reservoir and it seems to stay at the same level when I check it about 1" from the top, I do however here it "gurgle" sometimes when I am working on something else on the car. It's like air bubbles in the radiator when it is cold. As far as gauges, I have been contemplating after market gauges but just not sure how it affects the looks of the inside? I guess it's worth the comfort of knowing everything is working properly. Thanks for your suggestions!!!

That looks about right for a 220° on the gauge. Also it is normal for it to creep up at a stop so long as it creeps down when the stat opens up. sounds like you have it all fixed unless you want a lower temp at normal driving then just put in a 180° stat
