I'm thinking about getting a new radiator with electric fans, the whole enchilada from Champion Radiators.
I was wondering where the temperature sensor plugs in on these temperature control switch kits. I don't need to drill a new radiator or anything, do I?
With that style, They go on the outside of a hose, usually the top rad hose, in between rows in the core or side of the top reservoir/tank not actually in the liquid or radiator, there should be detailed instructions with them...
actually that one goes in the radiator hose. that black ruber with the slit is the seal and the rad hose goes over the top of it. I am not a big fan of that style just because it looks hokey. summit sells a nice one that goes in one of the holes in the watter pump housing and is an electrical sender just like a factory new car. you can choose your on and off temps. Also my zirgo fans did not last the plastic dry roted and came appart in only a couple years while my black majic fans have held up for 12 years now.
I never had much luck putting it in the upper rad hose, always had a bit of a drip. What I did was opened the fins a bit with a robby screwdriver just under the top rad hose and pushed the sensor through the fins. To hold it in palce I cut a small peice of rubber hose and slipped it over the other end that poked through the other side if the rad, this way it will not come out.
The control box I mounted between the rad and the battery to keep the wires as short as possible.
