Temperature control valve capillary well?

Hi folks,
Can anyone tell me what goes in this square hole (2 screw holes)? My 67 charger manual states that this is a temperature control valve capillary well. But does not show images or describe any part. I am rebuilding my heater box (with AC) and all of my teardown photos show that I never had anything mounted here.

Rebuilding mine right now. I have no idea what it is suppose to do or connect to. It is just a capillary tube that should be in contact with something...

I was testing a heater control valve from a 62 that I was trying to repair and to understand this mechanism.
When heat was applied to the bulb or end of the capillary tube, a small plunger at the valve raised a few mm; which in turn pushes against an adjustable stop. It looks like the valve would be forced closed or closed tighter when heat is present. The bulb end sat inside the heater box below the heater core with air travelling past it when air is directed to the floor. Seems like a high temperature limit if that makes any sense.

From a 1970 manual, it appears that your capillary tube may have to do with the expansion valve.

Jim, it is shown on page 24-11 Figure 8 of the 69 manual, and goes into the hole in the bottom of the housing, sensing evaporator air temp, and goes to the back of the expansion valve to control the flow of refrigerant thru the evaporator, thus controlling system temp and preventing icing.

I rechecked my service manual (67) and I am convinced that this capillary system is for the heat side of the box (only - my AC diagram like the one in this thread does not connect to the heater box), and would attach to the factory temperature valve. As described by A383wing in the 67 belvedere thread, someone removed the factor valve from my car and put an in-line cable operated valve into the supply side. So at this time I don't think I have use for the capillary system. Unless I find a complete assembly.
 
Thank you that thread explains a lot! Mine had an aftermarket firewall valve that had its own coil so the one in the box was not connected to anything! I have an original firewall valve coming so that is where that capillary tube goes! Thanks. According the Classic air this was to shut off the flow of coolant until the car was warmed up (through the valve in the firewall) and was eliminated in '71
