Hi, I have autometer pro comp rpm gauge I plan to install on my 68 charger 440. Is there a way to test the gauge before I install? There are only two red wires coming from the back of the gauge. How to wire?

You mean tachometer? If so there is commonly 4 wires.

Typically there are four (4) wires.
One wire for the coil connection for the RPM SIGNAL
One wire for a 12 volt switched source to power the instrument
One wire for a 12 volt source for internal illumination (dash lights)
One wire for the instrument ground
But it depends on on the instrument internals.....
What brand or model is your tach?

Commonly red 12 volt power, black ground, green tach signal, white tach light.

Thanks. Here are photos to help. I would assume:

#2 - One wire for the coil connection for the RPM SIGNAL
#3 - One wire for a 12 volt switched source to power the instrument
wire attached to bulb which will mounted in #6 in some way? - One wire for a 12 volt source for internal illumination (dash lights)
#4 - One wire for the instrument ground

I assume you didn't crimp on those ring connectors because they look awful.
