The "CORVETTE FORUM" is worried about the 707HP HELLCAT

New Vette is a convoluted mess styling wise too. Came out of a committee where everybody got their way. Challenger is Bitchin'. Alll hail the King.

Had a chat with a dealer rep at our MOPAR Club meeting last night. His take is the price on the Hellcat will be $100k plus. And, it looks like only 100 will be produced! He also thinks that this is a proof of concept for the engine and that engine will go into the Viper in a couple of years.

Take that Vettes!

Jeff

There's no way. Sorry I just have to disagree with all points listed. Except the vette comment, I concur.

i have no knowledge myself on this, however here's a little excerpt from a post on corvette forum ...........

" i have a cousin who works for srt who does a lot of compiling of test data for all their cars. We know […] the hellcat has in fact run three to four runs back-to-back with the manual transmission and all runs were 10.90-10.97 at over 127 mph on stock rubber on a well-prepped track."

wow!

I've read times are 10.80's out of the show room.I'm really curious what it does in the hands of an every day type driver.I've already gone around to my local wrecking yards and left my phone number with them.As soon as the first one in this area gets totaled I plan on picking it clean for a swap. Now to decide which car gets it.

I'm researching the video now...
That darn Richard Rawlings...he gets all the fun stuff!
L.O.L

My SRT8 has not lost to a Camaro so I know this Hell Cat will clean their clock. :-)
Thats hilarious. The vette is supposed to be on par with the viper. These guys are sweating the car that is on par with the camaro. Too bad for them I suppose

He's running a new 392. No where near Hell Cat power.

I'll let you know this fall.

Will the Challenger be able to stay with the Corvette on the road course?

The 2015 BMW M4 beats the Vette on the road course
I think a Subaru STI will take it on a road course too.

The video is Richard Rawlings with the new Hellcat as Bruzilla originally posted

Hellcat = sales for Chrysler. Just hearing about it gets you excited lol on Facebook my buddies and I tear up gm boys almost on a daily basis lmao it's funny to see they just don't get it. They can't get passed the fact mopar looks, drives and is engineered better. Hail to the king Chrysler!

Yep :iamwithstupid: there's a video with Richard Rawlings GMG/Fast & Loud fame
& his Buddy Dennis Collin's 71 Hemi Challenger race the 2015 Hellcat,
it clicked off an 10.85 @ 126 IIRC
on "Drag Radials" in the disclaimer, but in street trim otherwise thou...

I guess its on. Let the HP wars commence. I doubt very much GM and ferd are throwing in the towels. Wonder high high it will go before the EPA and insurance companies kill muscle car......again!

Good point Hemi Rebel
I lived thru the first Muscle Car wars...1965 thru 1973 or so...
I was covinced "WE" would never see anything like that again.
Boy oh boy was I wrong!
This time around it is intense and "we" are the one who benifit form this.

Yes, it's exciting to see this but alas, I hear what you are saying...the end will come soon.
Untill then, I'm digging it!

I like how the Dodge guy in the video starts out correctly calling the Challenger a Pony Car and then sneakily slides it into the Muscle Car category.

Dang, you guys are pretty hard on the Corvette crowd. By the way, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is turning mid 10's with "only" 560 Hp.

I think $75 large can get a person into a 650 hp '15 Z06.

Can't wait for true comparisons to begin...
