Well ,after way too long ,we are finally ready to add onto our garage . We had a bid of $17k a few years ago to add on 8' . At the time we thought it was too much for the work being done.
Now however we just want to get it done . I will be doing the finishing work . Drywall, electrical and roofing .
We need the concrete poured ,permits ,framing and siding done.
One thing I'd like to do is add a floor drain . Any idea how deep ?
What do we look for when choosing a contractor ?
Thanks

I had a large 1200 Sq ft pad poured a few years ago with footers and rebar to support a structure. The guy who owned and did the concrete work was well educated on where electrical and drainage needed to be. I’d get word of mouth referrals from people in your area. I don’t use it now but at the time a quick Facebook post got me lots of referrals and the guy I used.

You had better check your prices as materials are way up. 17K a few years ago could be 20K to 25K today.

Construction lumber is about 2.5x the price it was back in Feb 2020 up here... and we have the trees! lol

Floor drains are not legal in some areas due oil/ fuel leeching into the soil. My concrete guy would offer to cover the pipe with an upside down coffee can, pour over it until it was inspected and then chip out the thin layer that covered the can. Not saying we ever did that.

That's funny because it pays less to haul that lumber now than it did in 2018. I wonder where all the additional profits are going.

The old price and demand. Everyone is at home, so house renos went nuts last year while production went down. You couldn't buy a stick of pressure treated lumber by June last year. The cheap #2 2x4's that were a $2.25 became 6 bucks at HomeDepot.
