Scrooge would be proud.

Busy as a one-armed paper hanger here in Savannah.

Interesting tidbits in this article:

https://www.wtoc.com/2021/10/14/port-traffic-creates-ship-backup-off-coast/

For example:

“Twenty-four ships at anchor waiting to come in. The docks are full so as soon as one leaves, we bring another one back in,” Master Pilot Trey Thompson said. “The warehouses are full. The port is full. It’s just total port congestion on every end.”

Back out at sea - some good news. The number of ships at anchor has gone down.

“A couple weeks ago it was 38. That’s the most I’ve seen here, so we have got it down a little bit,” Thompson said.

I would guess the 75% of all of it, is going to back east
where most of the US population is

Empty Christmas stockings? Don't blame COVID; blame California
https://www.americanthinker.com/blo...ckings_dont_blame_covid_blame_california.html
why not ?
youz' guyz' from equally fucked up eastern states,
when 75% of the US Population is east of the Mississippi,
&/or northeast of the Ohio River Valley
70% of that is left, you are all partially responsible for this ****

Eastern states like Mass. or NH,
NJ, NY, De, Cn, NC, Vt, Mar., RI, Va, Mi, Mn, Wi etc.

(many is/are warranted, some is total spin Main Stream Media BS,
youz' guyz' are taking all the low hanging bait)

that proverbial grass isn't always greener either

even if it's lack of independent truckers
UPS FedEx DHL etc. all shipping/trucking industry issues/shortages
or the Longshoreman's Union strongarming tactics,
their lack of working hrs
or their quotas & limits on #'s Employees
or their shortages because of it

While all/both are sitting home on their asses &
collecting feds govt. dole/stimulus $$$

it's all interstate or intrastate shipping issues, logistics problems
40% of all shipping into the US
from import entries, comes from/thru LA/Long Beach port of entries
another like 10% comes from Oakland/Alameda/SF ports
drivers from all lower 48 states & even some from Alaska
have to do the hauling, not just California's problems

cost of diesel fuel
or federal regulations hamstringing employers
or Trucking industry too

this is all planned chaos, we all know who's responsible
they live in a 'The people's House', or their appointees,
like Buttplug former mayor from Ind., acting transportation Sec.,
also now back on the eastern seaboard
this is a logistic problem, it's not a Calif. problem

we have our share
way beyond being blamed for this shitstorm,
created by the eastern/northeastern losers
or the Plandemic

If they want to move freight the need to raise the weight limits and extend hrs of service and drive time for trucking.
Shut off the electronic logs and let them make some $

And no one talks about that trucks in the port of Los Angeles have to be less than 3 years old because of exhaust emissions.

And start holding the crooked brokers accountable. Give the trucker his fair share!!

From the article...

to shut down semi tractor rigs that were non-compliant with new California emission standards. [snip] In effect, what this 2020 determination and settlement created was an inability of half the nation's truckers from picking up anything from the Port of LA or Port of Long Beach. Virtually all private owner operator trucks and half of the fleet trucks that are used for moving containers across the nation were shut out.

In an effort to offset the problem, transportation companies started using compliant trucks (low emission) to take the products to the California state line, where they could be transferred to non-compliant trucks who cannot enter California. However, the scale of the problem creates an immediate bottleneck that builds over time. It doesn't matter if the ports start working 24/7, they are only going to end up with even more containers waiting on a limited amount of available trucks.

All very true, but as far as I know there are very limited facilities to transfer good and /or containers. It will take years to create such facilities to accommodate the amount of goods that need to be shipped off the docks.

Florida wants the cargo ships in California to come here. No problem, just take the shortcut through the canal.
