the Iron Sheik will not be applying the "camel clutch" any more

Wow 81....that's a good bit longer run than most of them had.

Seen him in Cincinnati in 1984, Snooka, Slaughter, Jake the Snake & HotRod
RIP Sheik

The Sheik and ole Nikolai…
RIP man. Entertained me through 80’s as a kid.

RIP Hossein
(never thought I'd say that name & RIP, too bad it wasn't Barry Hussein O----)

My dad just watched a WWE Legends documentary
on A&E the other night,
Sunday night it was an hr & a half on the Iron Sheik
I was surprised he was a drug addict, crackhead & coca dude
in his down years, after his prime...
I heard most of it, I don't watch, too phony...

He played a hated Iranian villain, in lil' regions-venues
(a heel in WWF-WWE terms)
Long before Terry-Hulk Hogan/Hulkamania was on there
(helped to make Terry's career, to fulfill the script with Hulk beating
the Sheik who was the champ at that time
)
but was a true blue USA convert/citizen, loved this country

He/Sheik was the Shaw of Iran's personal Bodyguard,
before he came here & became a citizen
he/Sheik drove trucks & set-up the rings, doing all kinds of grunt work
Long before he was a wrestler, Vince loved him & his Iranian schtick
that was perfect timing for the fledgling WWF,
Vince McMahon had just purchased WWF from his dad...
It made the USA USA USA chants much louder, sold seats/tickets
for all the people that hated the Iranians, in that era...
Just before & during the Iran hostage 400+ days
debauchery with Jimmy Carter 1979-80...

Surprisingly I'm not a fan
I've been forced & learned a lot about WWF/WWE/WCW history
in the past 17+ years
Just mostly listening while on my computer...
Or out in the garage with the house door open, so I can hear my dad...
While Dad blares it in the front room, can hardly 'not' learn something...
Some of the history is a lil' interesting...
I know too much, for my taste...
I have to hear that **** probably 7 hrs a week between
Monday Night Raw (USA for 3 hrs) & Friday Night Smackdown (Fox for 2 hrs)
& now the Sunday WWE Legends series (A&E for 1-2 hrs) every week
becoming quite the expert on that crap (yes it's staged scripted fake crap)
It makes my elderly 86 y/o dad happy, so I tolerate it...

carry on :carrot:
