The good old days are gone....most of the team now are more interested in their haircuts, public image and their Instagram profiles, rather than concentrating on the game or even practice.I watched the All Blacks play the US for a game of rugby.
Was not pretty.
Thus, the answer to the question, 'nature or nurtured '.I never cared for any sports except automotive related, and then only marginally, until the age of 30.
At that time, my best friend got married and his new wife was a rabid football fan.
By default I had to at least be aware of football games when I was at their house.
My friend was not much of a sports fan, either.
...but slowly an appreciation crept in and we found ourselves able to rattle off statistics and opinions on strengths, weaknesses, and performance.
I now, do follow the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but not any other team, except if they are a critical future opponent.
It's all HER fault !

I’m going take a guess and say the stretched out time of the game has something to do with penalties? The good old days are gone....most of the team now are more interested in their haircuts, public image and their Instagram profiles, rather than concentrating on the game or even practice.
The All Blacks died for me when Richie hung up his boots and turned down a Knighthood on principal.

I would rather watch a game of Australian AFL these days..... more exciting to watch apart from the fact it takes about 4 hours to play 80 minutes.
Entertainment, drinks breaks, injury stoppages...... honestly the AFL game I went to in Melbourne for the ANZAC weekend was a 4-hour marathon.I’m going take a guess and say the stretched out time of the game has something to do with penalties?
