I've had a couple guys ask, so here's the story.
After I finished off the '64 build last summer, http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?35850-64-330-Street-Hemi-build (shameless plug) I spent the rest of the time driving and breaking it in. Early on I noticed oil dripping from the clutch inspection cover. It progressively got worse. Then about 300 miles in I started getting blue smoke under acceleration and then all the time. Not just a little. Pulled the plugs and discovered #7 was coated, black sooty. I ran a compression test and all were between 195-205, within range. So after talking to Eddie a couple times and changing the oil 3 times using Brad-Pen 30#, the problems persisted. By then it was fall and I put it away. After about a month of thinking about direction I called Eddie back and ordered a new long block with some up-grades. That engine was delivered about a month ago and Dynoed at just under 600HP/600TQ. Upgrades were a hydraulic roller cam and extensive porting and polishing.

So, my suspicion is that I have a faulty rear main seal and a busted oil ring on 7. The plan is to ship first long block back to Eddie for teardown and inspection. I DO NOT believe it’s anything Eddie missed; parts fail, it happens. And frankly, if it's going to happen it will happen to me. Anyway, after talking to Eddie again about a month ago he's in the middle of buying a new house and is taking break from engine building to focus on family and moving. So I'll crate the engine up and put it on the pallet racking for now. As curious as I am about what’s going on, I’m going to let Eddie do it in case there is any parts warrantee that can be recouped from the MFG.

The plan then for the first engine (long block) is to build a Blown, injected engine. Aiming for between 800-900HP on pump gas. More a street/show car. As I told Eddie; if he wants to put up with me and take on the project, it's his. I completely trust and respect his craftsmanship. If he doesn't want to take it on, I'll be asking you guys who to use.
So, there ya go.

If he wants to put up with you????? No disrespect to anyone but im trying to understand what your saying. You had a engine built. It started to leak and then blow oil. You were still breaking it in and did not over rev it. Then you ordered another block but your first engine is sitting on a shelf as the engine builder is not doing motors for personal reasons. Anything can happen and its no reflection on the the guy building the motor,**** happens but myself id have crated up that engine sent it back and not wanted to hear of any time issues unless it was something very serious going on. My wife became very seriously ill and still is. I have customers i work for that are understanding but business is business and i had responsibilities to them,so they worked around my schedule and i ran my *** off till things calmed down. I guess im jealous as i find it incrediable that someone will do a job get paid well and then say i can't help you now as im busy with other things. Your obviously a very nice resonable man,i wish i worked for a guy like you

It seems like more and more, folks who are genuinely good at working on our cars are becoming to be treated more like we treat our barbers, doctors, hookers, etc., i.e., when we find a good one that meets all our needs and expectations... you hold onto them. :) It's not like you can find a good engine guy on every corner anymore, so if you find one who knows his business, and does a good job, I think you tend to be more patient and understanding of delays and issues.

Bruzilla, its not the same thing. My wifes doctor took maternity leave,we saw another doctor until she got back. In this case a service and product was rendered and there was a issue. It needs to be addressed by whom ever got paid and i'll assume that person was paid well. Not taking on new work would be one thing, however the engine failure needs to be looked into with no exuses save for a true emergency. Thats the way we work up here anyway

Good luck with your new build, Blown Injected now that sounds like a fun build to me...

Go for it, have fun...

I hope all issues gets resolved with the other engine & get sorted out, that makes you & your engine builder Eddie, both happy with the resolution... like you said parts break chit happens, it's been almost a year now...

I wish you the best & Happy Moparing

So the blown motor going in the 330? And in blown do you mean a roots type or centrifugal as in like a Procharger?
Sounds like a fun ride.
