I have electric fans that I control with a switch inside my cockpit. I want to have them come when the water reaches the correct temp.....say 180-185. Therefore, I will be installing relays and a temp sensor. However, I need a thermostat housing that has the water port so I can insert the temp sensor. My current housing aims toward my passengers side fender and I would like to leave it that way since I have all the braided hoses, etc. Does anyone have one of these? OR...will another car fit....(choke, choke) Chebby or Ford. It is for a 383 BB.
Thanks
Rick

Your water pump housing should have a plug you can remove to install a sensor. If not drill and tap a hole for it.

Do you have 2 ports in the water pump housing??

No, no ports on the water pump housing. The only possbilities I have now are the 2 heater hose tits that I have capped off. However, I am a somewhat reluctant to attempt their removal as I'm not sure if they are threaded. Therefore, I thought it would be best to just obtain a water-neck with a water port.

It sounds like you are not using the heater hose connections. They are both threaded and would be an access point. I have never seen a Thermostat housing with anything but a hose connection. Maybe a picture of what you have would be helpful. Here are a couple pics of the only big block water pump housing Chrysler used. Either the left side outlet or right side outlet. Both have threaded holes for the heater hose nipples. They both have extra threaded holes for what you want to do.

I have one off a later 400. It could use some media blasting and I would think it'll be ok.

Hi 5.7 Hemi. Are you saying that you have a water-neck with that port,....or is this a water pump housing? I would really like to just change the water neck (Thermostat housing) only and leave everything else alone. My space is so tight that I would have to start by taking my Champion radiator off just to remove the bolts from my water pump housing....then my electric fans....then several other items. Let me know what you have. Thanks

It's the thermostat housing. Send me a conversation with an email or cell# and I'll get ya a few pics.
