There are some harsh comments there too. geez.

The guy that wrote that article is an idiot.....Uni-body...Collapsed Like Plastic?? A majority of cars and trucks now days are unibodies

Here's a post from a board member that saw the original thread the pic's were taken from:

Funny, because if you read through the forum where these pics came you would know that the car was t-boned at about 3AM on clear night, moon was full. Driver had swerved to miss and animal and hit the guardrail it flung the car around which disconnected the battery and killed the car in the middle of the road. Another driver pulled in front of the car and put his flashers on and some young punk in his full size Chevy dually who wasn’t paying attention hit the car at 70MPH. Oh and the officer who came to the hospital told the driver he was lucky he was in an “old car” because in a new car he would have been killed.

You'd think that in the time it took for the other car to come around and turn on its flashers for the Charger owner, the two of them could've pushed it off the road safely before Mr. Chevy Dually arrived. Plus, NO ONE should be out at 3am with a car like that... 3am is universal drunk driver hour.

:hijacked: Ya so will this million $ ferrari with 9 mi. This is what happens when you hit a utility pole @200 mph. Took the car one mile to stop.

That article almost sounded to me like someone making a case to get our old cars off the road for good. Yeah, make everyone believe that these cars are unsafe and should not be allowed on the road. But I think that any car , old or new, will have heavy damage if broadsided by a truck that size and hitting a stopped vehicle while going 70 mph.

Ya, I think it will buff out..I would start wth Rubbing Compound then go to Polishing ...Try not to make swirls in the paint...

Incredible. Just amazing to see pictures like this, yea, lots of buffing compound and a little patience. :)

Anything that gets hit by something bigger than it at 70mph isn't going to look good. I would take an issue with the article: while I agree that cars have made huge improvements in front and rear impacts since the 70's, side impact hasn't changed all that much. I know, newer cars do have reinforced doors and some have side air bags. But, relatively speaking, a new car involved in a side impact isn't going to look much different than that Charger. The reason is that new cars have front and rear crumple zones that direct the energy of the crash away from the passenger compartment. On the sides you can't do much with crumple zones. The doors are just too thin and the passengers are just too close to the point of impact.

a classic textbook case of MORE MONEY THAN BRAINS right there....yeah boiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeee

I'd like to see a Prius after it was hit by the same truck... idiot wrote the article... a frontal collision would show what he was trying to say but anyone getting t-boned like that isnt going to have the benefit of crumple zones to lessen the impact at 70 mpg
