I had been watching the Indy Mecum listings for several months , but somehow this one never appeared on my radar screen. There were actually 2 B5 70 roadrunner verts there, and I'd seen the other one, a 383 "6 footer" grade example, but not the V code. I went there last Thursday and saw the perfumed one, but the V code had sold and was gone by then. The 383 still brought decent money considering the thrown together grade resto on it, I think it was around 73K all in.
The V code sold for $123,750 after buyers premium, which seems awfully cheap for a V code convertible. Was that because it ran way too early in the event and a buyer got real lucky, or did it have skeletons in its closet?

This car was the subject of a Your Car Story video a few years ago. It was right here in my area but I've never seen it at any events I go to or do I know the owner.

Agree, it DOES seem cheap.... "a buyer got real lucky, or did it have skeletons in its closet", or have Mopar values tanked ? It seems shocking to see a ONE OF 20 6-barrel/CONVERTIBLE car go for a buck & a quarter ? I would've plunked that down in a hearbeat.

I thought the car looked familiar

I looked it maybe 30 plus years ago.
In either Lexington or maybe Louisville ( Been to long to remember which )

I just asked a friend of mine whom used to own it ( the outdoor photos Im almost sure of, and maybe some of the indoor pictures being used are from when he owned it actually )

Car was non matching numbers,
Had aftermkt quarters and trunk pan installed many years ago . And No build sheet

Real car but those might have held it back Im sure from big money.

Thanks for the info.
Despite the not #s and bodywork, it still sounds like it was well bought. Somehow the car didn’t end up being well publicized by Mecum, and the early days of the auction where this car ran are not “prime time”, so this ended up being a situation where the holes in the Swiss cheese lined up for someone to get a decent deal.

This is interesting. This convertible that showed sold at the Mecum Indy auction just a few weeks back is now up again listed at their Tulsa auction this coming weekend.
The link for it when at Indy is now vanished. And it shows part of the "Schroeder" collection, which is some car broker place (maybe owned by distant relatives of mine since they have my last name), who now seem to list several dozen cars at every Mecum auction. And in the course of its travels it seems to have picked up dust trails too! Or did it have them when at Indy a few weeks ago, I don't recall? It didn't have them when the guy owned it in the My Car Story video.

Funny how you mention the "collection" is nothing buy a car broker place.

I see the collection term being thrown out at these auctions. I'm sure some are real collections. Others obviously not.
